Rocha and Pedro Costa Alemão were also

members, the “five pioneers” who, every

week, dealt with a huge additional amount

of telephone calls and e-mails, and met with

the desire (successfully achieved) to remove

the CNC from its problematic financial

situation, placing it in the enviable position

it is currently in.

The first six years were extremely hard

in terms of work, during which José Sotto

Mayor Matoso dedicated countless hours,

and a lot of effort, not only in Portugal,

but also in several parts of Europe - most

of the time, with his Dragon tied to the

car, incessantly promoting the CNC in

the most varied locations. Six years later,

Francisco Brito e Abreu and José Paulo

Ramada joined the General Council,

since in 2014 the demands of the CNC

were already excessive for only five people.

More recently, Pedro Mendes Leal came to

consolidate the team - and, with José Sotto

Mayor Matoso as Commodore, but with

a seat on the General Council, no doubt

the CNC will become stronger, and the

results will be even better.

Initially, the name of José Sotto Mayor

Matoso was presented by the President

of the Board, Gonçalo Esteves, to the

Vice-President, Francisco Brito e Abreu,

deserving an absolutely favourable reception

not only from him, but subsequently

from the entire Executive Committee, from

Commodore Miguel Horta e Costa, from

the President of the Board of the General

Meeting, Vasco Pinto Basto, and, not least,

from the Honorary Commodore, Patrick de

Barros. In what was a unanimous decision,

everyone was therefore as radiant as they

were grateful for the acceptance of their

new mission, for being sure and certain

that they had found the ideal commodore

for what the CNCascais will need in the

coming years.

THANK YOU,

COMMODORE HORTA E COSTA

A moment of such supreme importance for

Clube Naval de Cascais would only be complete

with profound and heartfelt thanks

to Miguel Horta e Costa, Commodore of

Clube Naval de CASCAIS 79
