com o diálogo junto aos órgãos de comando e controle,
e buscando adequação no processo da colheita, industrialização
até a comercialização dos produtos, com os
desafios da rastreabilidade e garantia de origem; buscar
alternativas para o aperfeiçoamento do ciclo produtivo
das indústrias madeireiras, através da viabilização econômica
de espécies florestais de baixa densidade e o
uso de novas tecnologias de industrialização para agregação
de valor; investimento em comunicação levando
ao conhecimento da sociedade em geral a verdadeira
reputação da produção florestal sustentável; buscar incentivos
como a criação de programa de governo para
utilização de percentual de madeira nas obras públicas
semelhante ao que países da Europa vem fazendo há
vários anos, é um importante incentivo à ampliação da
área manejada.
E ACERCA DOS DESAFIOS NA PRESIDÊNCIA DA
INSTITUIÇÃO?
O principal desafio na presidência do Cipem será a
manutenção da gestão dos próprios negócios, pois tenho
participação societária em diversos empreendimentos
relacionados ao setor de base florestal. Além disso,
temos aspiração de crescimento para construção de
centros de distribuição no país, para atender comércio
interno e exterior. Tudo isso sem esquecer das responsabilidades
para com a família.
QUAL A REPRESENTATIVIDADE ECONÔMICA
DO SETOR MADEIREIRO E FLORESTAL NO ESTADO
DO MATO GROSSO?
O setor madeireiro cumpre um papel importantíssimo
na economia do Estado de Mato Grosso, especialmente
na região norte e noroeste, onde ainda é o maior
responsável pela sustentação da economia local de 44
municípios, bem como, da geração de empregos, arrecadação
e desenvolvimento social.
COMO VÊ O DESENVOLVIMENTO DO SETOR
DE BASE FLORESTAL NO BRASIL?
Vejo um setor em fase de evolução, que vem buscando
se estabelecer como uma atividade econômica
organizada, rentável, com responsabilidade social e
ambiental. As normas de monitoramento e rastreamento
dos produtos de base florestal tem contribuído para o
desenvolvimento do setor. Os sistemas implantados de
rastreamento e monitoramento trazem segurança e melhoram
a credibilidade do setor.
QUAIS SÃO AS EXPECTATIVAS DOS EMPRESÁ-
RIOS DO SETOR MADEIREIRO E FLORESTAL?
Por se tratar de um setor que tem as suas atividades
ligadas à sustentabilidade e conservação das florestas
por meio do PMFS (Plano de Manejo Florestal Sustentável),
as nossas expectativas são para que os nossos

forest-based industries, through the economic viability
of low-density forest species and the use of new industrialization
technologies to add value; to encourage investment
in communication providing society, in general,
with a better knowledge about the true reputation
of sustainable forest production; to seek significant incentives
to expand managed areas such as the creation
of a government program to use a percentage of wood
in public works similar to what countries in Europe have
been doing for several years.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES FOR YOU AS
PRESIDENT OF THE INSTITUTION?
My main challenge as President of Cipem will be
maintaining my own businesses since I have a financial
interest in several activities related to the Forest-based
Sector. In addition, the Institution aspires to grow by
building distribution centers throughout the State to
serve domestic and foreign trade. All this without forgetting
the responsibilities to the family.
WHAT IS THE ECONOMIC REPRESENTATIVE-
NESS OF THE WOODWORKING AND FORESTRY
SECTORS IN THE STATE OF MATO GROSSO?
The Forest-based Sectors play a critical role in the
economy of the State of Mato Grosso, especially in the
north and northwest, where it is still the main activity
responsible for sustaining the local economy of 44
municipalities and generating jobs, taxes, and social
development.
HOW DO YOU SEE THE DEVELOPMENT OF
THE FOREST-BASED SECTOR IN BRAZIL?
I see a sector in the evolution phase as it seeks to
establish itself as an organized, profitable economic
activity with social and environmental responsibility.
The monitoring and tracking standards for forest-based
products have contributed to the development of the
Sector. The already deployed tracking and monitoring
systems provide security and improve the Sector’s credibility.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS FOR BUSI-
NESSES IN THE FOREST-BASED AND FORESTRY
SECTORS?
Because it is a sector with activities linked to the
sustainability and conservation of forests through Sustainable
Forest Management Plans, we expect our pro-
