ilha caçula de uma família mineira de oito irmãos, Elbia
Gannoum, almejava se tornar professora universitária.
Com formação em Ciências Econômicas, foi no
curso de mestrado que se interessou pela indústria
de energia e começou a pesquisar na área. Desde 2011 é
presidente-executiva da Abeeólica (Associação Brasileira de
Energia Eólica e Novas Tecnologias), onde iniciou quando o
setor tinha apenas 1 GW (gigawatts) de capacidade instalada.
Passados 12 anos, a energia eólica tem mais de 30 GW de
capacidade instalada no Brasil. Em sua trajetória profissional
Elbia foi professora da UFSC (Universidade Federal de Santa
Catarina), integrou a CCEE (Câmara de Comercialização de
Energia Elétrica), foi economista-chefe do MME (Ministério
de Minas e Energia), coordenadora de Política Institucional
do Ministério da Fazenda e assessora na Aneel (Agência
Nacional de Energia Elétrica). Em entrevista para Revista a
REFERÊNCIA BIOMAIS, Elbia Gannoum falou dos avanços e
expectativas do setor.

he youngest daughter in a family of eight siblings
from the State of Minas Gerais, Elbia Gannoum aspired
to become a University Professor. With a degree
in Economic Sciences, it was during her studies for
her Master’s degree that she became interested in the energy
industry and began research in the area. Since 2011, she has
been Executive President of the Brazilian Association of Wind
Energy and New Technologies (Abeeólica), where she started
when the Sector had only 1 GW of installed capacity. After 12
years, wind energy has more than 30 GW of installed capacity
in Brazil. In her professional career, Gannoum has been a
Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Ufsc),
a member of the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (Ccee),
Chief Economist at the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME),
Coordinator of Institutional Policy at the Ministry of Finance
and advisor at National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). In an
interview with REFERÊNCIA Biomais, Elbia Gannoum talks
about the advances and expectations of the Sector.
