he relationship between Aza and Davis starts as a platonic one, although they do not end up together, these
two are the representation of a real-life relationship in which the two do not need to end up together in order to
be happy. Even though Aza is struggling with her mental health, Davis is very supportive of her and tries to
understand Aza's problems and to help her. He is always there for his friend and always cheers her up 'You
remember your first love because they show you, prove to you, that you can love and be loved, that nothing in
this world is deserved except for love, that is both how you become a person and why.'
Aza's struggles with OCD and anxiety all throughout this book are showing the fact that in this
generation these kind of mental problems have become more and more frequent and that instantly, when we
think or do something different from what the others do, we feel the need to say that we are wrong or that no
one understands us when in reality, thinking differently and 'outside the box' is what makes us the person that
we are, is what makes us unique and that's what everyone should feel, everyone should be accepted and
understood, even if they think or walk or dress in a different way because that's what makes us special.
The title of the book represents the search for our own person, how we keep searching for ourselves
behind our thoughts when those thoughts are what make us the person that we are. 'You're trying to find the
turtle at the bottom of the pile, but that's not how it works. Because there are turtles all the way down'
The word 'spirals' in the book represent how, when we start to think and we just keep on going when
we want to escape the 'spiral' of thoughts we can't because we're already in too deep 'Spirals grown infinitely
small the farther you follow them inward, but they also grow infinitely large you follow them out.'.
When reading this book it can feel like you are inside of a panic attack, as this book is very hard to read
especially for someone who struggles with mental disorders because it describes in depth the thoughts that a
person who struggles with OCD and anxiety can feel, at the same time this book allows us to understand what
mental disorders are, what people who suffer from them feel and how they feel it, how life does not always go
as we planned or how we had hoped for but that it the end life goes on and that we will go with it. One of the
most important things that 'Turtles All The Way Down' teaches us is the fact that just because we are different
or that we think differently it does not mean that we should change, it means that we are unique and that we
should accept ourselves just the way we are, with flaws and imperfections, because, in the end, that's what
makes us perfect.
