The IELTS Test (International English Language Testing System)
The IELTS test is an International English Language exam and is valid 2 years from the test date.
It is done in two diff erent modules (versions): General Module, taken by candidates applying to
immigrate to Canada, New Zealand and Australia; and the Academic Module, for those pursuing
further study at higher education institutions in Europe, North America and Australia.
The IELTS test consists of four components, each taken individually: Listening, Reading, Writing
and an Interview (Speaking). These components are explained in the IELTS Handbook, which you
can get from us or you can download from the IELTS web site www.ielts.org .
In order to apply for the test, you need to fi ll out the application form (available at British Council)
and provide two recent passport – size photos.
Enclose a clear photocopy of the identifi cation document (valid ID card or passport) that you
listed in the application form – NOTE: this same identifi cation document has to be brought to
the test.
Applicants are informed by phone on the venue and time of exam, and they have a deadline
(usually 5 weeks prior the test date) to pay the IELTS exam fee of €135.
The fee can be paid through the British Council bank account at ProCredit Bank.
A Specimen materials pack can also be purchased in our offi ce. It includes a full practice test
with an answer key and a CD for the Listening and Speaking parts so that candidates can get
some idea of their level of knowledge and familiarise themselves with the format of the test. The
price is €15.
The test results are available three weeks from the test date, by mail. There is a €7 charge for
extra copies of the test results.
Next test session in Prishtina will be held on 4 November 2010. We are now receiving
applications for interested candidates. Deadline for applying is 22 October 2010.
