6.0500 CEMETERIES<br />
6.0501 PUBLIC BURIAL GROUNDS<br />
All cemeteries now owned or which may be hereafter acquired by the City of<br />
Marinette, wherever situated, and all cemeteries now within the limits of the City,<br />
whether owned by the City or not, are declared to be public burial grounds, and<br />
no person shall establish or locate any other burying ground within the City.<br />

6.0503 DELINQUENT ASSESSMENTS<br />
When uniform care of a City cemetery lot has been given for two (2) consecutive<br />
years or more and the cemetery assessments are unpaid, after notice has been<br />
given as provided in Section 6.0502, the right to interment is forfeited until the<br />
delinquent assessments are paid. When uniform care has been given for five (5)<br />
consecutive years or more and the assessments are unpaid, upon like notice, title<br />
to all unoccupied part of the lot shall pass to the City of Marinette and the<br />
cemetery lot may be sold, and the proceeds placed in a fund for perpetual care of<br />
the occupied portion of the lot.<br />
6.0504 CEMETERY PERPETUAL CARE FUND<br />
A fund for the perpetual maintenance of cemetery grave lots shall be established<br />
and fifteen percent (15%) of all proceeds received from sale of grave spaces shall<br />
be deposited into said fund to provide maintenance and care of cemetery grounds.<br />
Cemetery. Perpetual care shall mean the cutting of the grass upon the lot or grave at<br />
reasonable intervals, the raking and cleaning of the lot or grave, the pruning of shrubs and<br />
trees, and such work as may be necessary to keep the cemetery grounds surrounding the<br />
grave in good and neat condition. It does not include maintenance or repair of any<br />
gravestones or monumental structures erected upon lots or graves therein nor the planting<br />
of flowers or ornamental plants. (Ordinance 2011-2205 adopted 9-6-11)<br />
6.0505 MAUSOLEUM PERPETUAL CARE FUND<br />
The City shall have power to determine the charges to be made for crypts and rooms in<br />
the public mausoleums. A fund for the perpetual maintenance of vaults or crypts shall be<br />
established and twenty-five percent (25%) of all proceeds received from sale of<br />
mausoleum niches or crypts shall be deposited into said fund to provide maintenance and<br />
care relating to said mausoleums. Mausoleum perpetual care shall mean mausoleum<br />
facility maintenance and such work as may be necessary to keep the facility containing<br />
niches and crypts in good and neat condition. It does not include maintenance or repair<br />
of any privately owned memorial items within the facility.<br />
