sect. A nomos of this kind is to be considered a subnomos and makes the past sect involvement meaningful in relation to the lived present. For some this nomos is explicit which makes their in- volvement with other defectors and having a general interest in relating subjects a permanent in- volvement. For others it is implicit and a result of a temporary involvement with other defectors. Common for both is the fact that they have the experience of sharing a past and experiences with others and this is considered meaningful in order to get on with life in a meaningful way. Overall it must be concluded that it makes sense to claim a certain degree of dependency on the basis of a sect involvement being a fervent follower. The involvement results in certain interests in maintaining contact with other defectors, other religious people and interest in subjects relating to this. Also regarding the process of defecting where the person step by step prepares himself to leave the sect can be compared to wean off drugs in a slow but secure way and avoiding abstinences. It therefore cannot be overlooked that a sect involvement has a significant impact on what a person afterwards get involved with and find meaningful. 96
