„2005 war ein sehr wichtiges, ein existentielles Jahr für unseren
Club. 2006 wird das Jahr des Aufbruchs sein, basierend auf
einem soliden Fundament“, sagte Dr. Ingo Mantzke, Präsident
des FTC Palmengarten, anlässlich des traditionellen Neujahrs-
empfangs am Sonntag, den 12. Februar, in der Clublounge.
Mit starken Mannschaften und Initiative der Mitglieder werde

der Club in diesem Jahr die
Weichen für die positive Zu-
kunft stellen. Schon jetzt sei
dies deutlich: So sei die Aus-
senanlage vor allem durch
die Initiative von Ruth Leschke in hervorragendem Zustand,
das Internet werde derzeit von Marianne Wolfram aktualisiert
und durch das Engagement von Prof. Dr. Thomas Wendt und
Thomas Delhougne sei es möglich, den Kinderspielplatz zu er-
weitern. „Neben sportlichen Events sind viele neue Veranstal-
tungen für 2006 geplant, die sowohl Mitglieder als auch Inter-
essierte anlocken und so zum attraktiven Clubleben beitragen
werden“, sagte Dr. Mantzke.
Schon die erste Veranstaltung des Clubs, eben jener Neu-
jahrsempfang, war ein Erfolg: Viele Gäste erfreuten sich beim
offi ziellen Auftakt an den kulinarischen Genüssen von Pascal
Schmitt und am hervorragenden musikalischen Programm:

Year’s Reception on February 12th in the Club
Lounge. With strong teams and member initia-
tives, the foundation for positive future growth
and development will be

kept in excellent condition by Ruth Leschke
and her member directed teams, Marianne
Wolfram is updating and modernizing our IT
capabilities and website, and the playground
is being improved and renovated with the help
and support of Prof. Dr. Thomas Wendt und

Jahr sorgten für das Entrée zwei talentierte Nachwuchsmusi-
kerinnen: Tee-Soo Kim sowie Samira Maleki, die Tennisspie-
lerin im Club ist und schon erfolgreich bei „Jugend musiziert“
teilgenommen hat. Anschließend genossen die Anwesenden
Kompositionen von Franz Liszt, hervorragend dargeboten von
der mehrfach international ausgezeichneten Pianistin Guoda
Gedvilaite, die seit 1995 an der Frankfurter Musikhochschule
von Prof. Lev Natochenny betreut wird und mittlerweile ihre eigene
Meisterklasse leitet.

ambiance,” added Dr. Mantzke.
As the fi rst offi cial club event of 2006, the New
Year’s Reception was a great success. A re-
cord guest turnout was treated to the culina-
ry magic of Pascal Schmitt and his team. An
exceptional musical program highlighted the
reception. The concert featured sonatas from
Ludwig van Beethoven and
Maurice Ravel. As in pre-
vious years, two extremely
talented young musicians,
Te-Soo Kim und Samira Maleki treated us to
moving performances. Samira has also suc-
cessfully performed in the „Jugend Musiziert“
youth competition and is a Palmengarten tennis
player. The program came to a rousing fi nish
with international award winning pianist, Guo-
da Gedvilaite’s performance of selections from
Franz Liszt. Ms. Gedviaite has been at the Frank-
furter Musikhochschule since 1995 under the
tutelage of Prof. Lev Natochenny. She currently
instructs her own master class at the academy.
