se- und Davis-Cup-As Karl Meiler spielen. Hoch motiviert
Nachwuchsspieler Erik Veweger, Philip Gerhard, Lukas Zie-
fach stark
trainiert und
Training mit Karl Meiler und Jürgen Hackauff:
On April 1st and 2nd gif-
Philip Gerhard, Lukas Zielen, Erik Viehwege, Niklas Zielen,
Felix Capelôa
ted junior players were
treated to a double teaming of former national
team trainers, Karl Meiler and Jürgen Hackauff. In
these top notch professional training sessions, the
FTC’s gifted youth group were on the court with
the former world ranked Davis Cup player Karl
Meiler. Highly motivated and in top form, our four
strongest youth contenders Erik Veweger, Philip
Gerhard, Lukas Zielen und Felix Capelôa faced
off with Meiler. Karl Meier was impressed with the
effort and potential displayed by the players. “I am
very surprised at the high level of play of these four
young men. Seldom is any one club able to pro-
duce four up and coming tennis talents at such a
consistently high level, and all of which show good
potential to move up and establish themselves in
the next higher class within the coming year. Ele-
ven year old Niklas Zielen was also able to audition
his talent for Meiler who commented, “Niklas has a
lot of potential and he will be able to help bring the
FTC youth team forward in the next years.”
Jürgen Hackauff organized the training session as
Jochen Rink. Weitere Sponsoren sind u.a. das Turmhotel,
Dunlop Sport und Fraport. Das „Kindergartenprojekt“ wurde
in die Gesundheitsinitiative „Deutschland bewegt sich“ von
ZDF und Bild am Sonntag aufgenommen.
a special reward for the top youth players and said,
”They trained hard all winter, earning the special
professional training that will motivate them to work
even harder in the upcoming season.” The repeat
training may be scheduled due to the all out effort
displayed by the boys. Meiler added, ”It was a lot
of fun working with my friend Jürgen on this training
session. I would welcome the chance to repeat it
again in the summer season.”
Kindergarten Tennis: Kids of all sizes and
ages are fi lling the FTC courts on a weekly
In the past months, tennis trainer and sport marke-
ting manager Alex Jelinek has brought more than
400 children from fi ve local kindergartens to take
part in regular tennis introductory training on the
FTC courts. It’s clear: The tennis fl ame can be ig-
generously supported by the Children’s Hospital
of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University and by
Joachim Rink, the regional director of AWD-Frank-
