So etwas hat es noch nie gegeben: Auf dem Centrecourt des
FTC Palmengarten wird es an einem lauen Sommerabend,
kurz nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit, spannend – und nicht
etwa wegen eines heißen Tennismatches. Nein, Grund für
die Spannung wird ein Kinofi lm sein. Möglich macht das das
Deutsche Filmmuseum, das nun im 12. Jahr die Frankfurter
Kinowoche – Kino an ungewöhnlichen Orten veranstaltet.
Konzept und Ziel dieser außergewöhnlichen Veranstaltungs-
reihe ist es, an ungewöhnlichen Orten innerhalb der Stadt
Frankfurt besondere Filme aus der Filmgeschichte zu zeigen
und so eine interessante Korrespondenz zwischen Veranstal-
tungsort und Film herzustellen. Die ausgewählten Schauplät-
ze machen dabei den besonderen Reiz der Veranstaltung
Kino an ungewöhnlichen Orten –

aus und geben den
Filmen eine ganz neue,
unerwartete Dimension.
Auf diese Weise lernen
die Besucher die Stadt von einer anderen Seite kennen und
gelangen an Orte und in Gebäude, die für die Öffentlichkeit
häufi g nicht zugänglich sind. So hat das Deutsche Filmmuse-
um schon auf dem Dach eines Wolkenkratzers, im Kühlkeller
der Firma Possmann, im Garten der Villa Mumm, in der Groß-
markthalle, auf einer Bowlingbahn und an vielen anderen un-
gewöhnlichen Orten Filme gezeigt. Dabei wird Wert darauf
gelegt, wichtige Repertoire- und Filmkunstfi lme in das Pro-
gramm aufzunehmen, die bei kommerziellen Openair-Veran-
staltungen nicht gezeigt werden.
Für die 12. Frankfurter Kinowoche 2006 sind für den Centre-
court des FTC Palmengarten u. a. folgende Filme in engerer
Auswahl:

Film Museum. The
concept for the fi lm
festival is to screen
movies show-
casing all aspects
of fi lm history in unusual places throughout Frank-
furt. This concept is meant to encourage and
explore the relationship between the fi lm and its
screening location.
The selection of the screening locations is what
makes this festival particularly interesting and uni-
que. The goal is to broaden the dimension of the
fi lm by screening it in an unusual context. The
movie goer also gets to know a new side of Frank-
furt by partaking in cultural events in places and
buildings normally not open to the public.

Die Frankfurter Kinowoche – Kino an ungewöhnlichen Or-
ten fi ndet vom 14. - 21. Juli 2006 statt. Voraussichtlicher
Termin für das Kino auf dem Centrecourt des FTC Palmen-
garten ist Sonntag, 16.07.2006, um 21.30 Uhr.

Open air cinema at FTC centrecourt
has presented fi lms on the roof of a skyscraper, in
the apple wine cellars of the Possman Company,
in the gardens of the Villa Mumm, in the Groß-
markthalle, at a bowling alley and in many other
unusual locations. Great emphasis is placed on
including important repertory and historic fi lms in
the festival programs, especially fi lms which are
not usually shown at open-air events.

The Frankfurter Film Week – Movies in Unusual
Places will take place between the 14th and 21st
of July, 2006. The FTC Palmengarten center court
screening is currently scheduled for Sunday, July
16th at 9:30 pm.
