Unser Mitglied, Nachbar und Freund<br />
Sirtaj Sarup ist am 8. Januar 2006 plötzlich<br />
und unerwartet verstorben.<br />
Sirtay hat unser Clubleben u.a. durch<br />
seine indischen Koch- und Grillkünste<br />
bereichert. Im letzen Sommer hat er uns<br />
sehr bei der Betreuung der indischen Junioren-Nationalmannschaft<br />
geholfen.<br />
Wir werden noch lange an ihn denken...<br />
Der Vorstand<br />
Bereits im November vorigen Jahres haben<br />
wir erfahren, dass Yadav (der vollständige<br />
Name ist der Redaktion leider<br />
nicht bekannt) – der Trainer der indischen<br />
Junioren-Nationalmannschaft, die<br />
im Sommer zu Gast beim <strong>RCT</strong> war – bei<br />
einem tragischen Unfall ums Leben gekommen<br />
ist. Nachfolgend veröffentlichen<br />
wir einen gekürzten Briefwechsel zwischen<br />
Sirtaj Sarup und einem offiziellen<br />
Vertreter der indischen Nationalmannschaft,<br />
der von dem Unglück berichtet.<br />

Dear Mr Sarup, sorry for nor writing earlier.<br />
I was very busy with orgnaising the<br />
11th Asian Rowing Championship at Hyderabad<br />
which just got over on the 23rd<br />
Oct and we have a breather. First of all, I<br />
want to thank you and Mrs Sarup for the<br />
kind hospitality extended to our Juniors<br />
during their stay in the Club at Berlin. Secondly<br />
I will have to give you some very<br />
sad news; Yadav died in a freak accident<br />
on 14 Oct 05, while towing a pontoon on<br />
the lake while setting up the rowing<br />
course for the Asian Championship. We<br />
miss his presence as he was a very resourceful<br />
and dedicated coach, extremely<br />
trustworthy. He was swept off the motor<br />
boat which he was himself driving, by<br />
a rope which was tied to the pontoon. Apparently<br />
the throttle of the engine jammed<br />
at full throttle and the boat swung<br />
out of control throwing Yadav off the boat.<br />
The boat kept going round and round<br />
and struck him<br />
in the face and<br />
passed over<br />
him several times<br />
due to<br />
which he could<br />
not save himself<br />
and drowned!<br />
