Deutschland Germany
Leipzig – aufstrebend und jung
Die Region Leipzig ist ein aufstrebender Wirtschaftsstandort im Herzen Europas. Zahlreiche Ansiedlungen namhafter
Leipzig – young and up-and-coming
The Leipzig region is an up-and-coming business location in the heart of Europe. The relocation of numerous renowned
companies, the excellent infrastructure as well as many trade fairs and congresses make Leipzig one of Germany’s most lively
and promising cities. Approx. 70 % of the companies in Leipzig consider their city very business friendly. Leipzig thus ranks
sixth in comparison with 50 other large cities in Germany according to a survey conducted by the “Social Market Economy
Institute” in cooperation with IW Consult GmbH.
Major projects such as the construction of the City Tunnel, the extension of the airport and the DHL logistics hub provide
further stimuli, also for the residential property market. While Leipzig was still suffering from the negative migration balance
in the 1990s, the city’s population has grown by approx. 22,500 to currently approx. 508,000 inhabitants. The number of private
households increased by about 18 % in the same period, and particularly young people live in the city: about one third of the
population is between 20 and 40 years old.
This population growth and the increasing demand for living space contrasts with subdued new construction and revitalisation
activities and declining vacancies. The residential property market has stabilised and benefits from this development.
