Unsere Gesellschaft konstruiert Körperbilder, indem
sie normierten Schönheiten jedes Zeichen des
Alters entzieht und auf der Körperoberfläche den
Kampf zwischen Natur und Kultur ausgeträgt. Auch
das Titelbild von Richard Wathen bildet mit dem
androgynen präpubertären Jugendlichen, dessen
Geschlechterrolle noch nicht völlig ausdifferenziert
ist, eine mögliche Projektionsfläche. Gekonnt plündert
Wathen verschiedene Stile der Kunstgeschichte
und platziert die Figur vor einem monochromen
Hintergrund. Zusammen mit dem Kaninchen gleitet
sie durch Raum und Zeit.
Gespannt warten wir aufs Gallery Weekend und auf
die bevorstehende KUNST Party, mit der wir am 0.
April im Tape Club unser mittlerweile vierjähriges
Bestehen feiern. Der Drum Roboter der Rhythm
Monks ist schon eine kleine Sensation, weitere
Live-Acts, Performances und Videoshows runden
das Spektakel ab. Natürlich kommt die Kunst auch
nicht zu kurz: Florian Müller-Krug kuratiert für uns
die Ausstellung „Hypernatural“ mit Beiträgen von u.
a. Philip Grötzinger, John Isaacs, Björn Dahlem und
Alicia Kwade auf dem Kunstkampus Heidestraße.

Our society constructs body images by eliminating any
sign of age from the norms of beauty while carrying
out an ongoing battle between nature and culture
on the surface of our bodies. The cover picture of an
androgynous pubescent youth by Richard Wathen is
an image upon which we can project variations of still
not fully differentiated gender roles. Wathen deftly
plunders the various styles of art history and places his
figure in front of a monochrome background. Together
with the rabbit, it glides through space and time.
We are anxiously awaiting the Gallery Weekend
and the impending KUNST Party where we will be
celebrating the fourth anniversary of our magazine at
the Tape Club on the 0th of April. The drum robot
Rhythm Monks is quite a sensation, and other live acts,
performances and video shows will round off the event.
And of course the arts will be more than adequately
represented: Florian Müller-Krug is curating the
exhibition “Hypernatural” for us with contributions
from Philip Grötzinger, John Isaacs, Björn Dahlem and
Alicia Kwade at the Art Campus Heidenstrasse.
