Today, 125 years later, Peter Maurer is in charge and he is extremely
passionate about leading the theatre through the year. 22 men
and women aged 18 to 80 now act in the historic theatre hall at the
Rassen inn, their comedy shows and farces change every week.
Another highlight: before the shows Schuhplattler (= traditional
folk dancers) show off their skills and during the break there’s a traditional
musical performance with guitar and “Ziach” (= accordion).
Kunst & Kultur
Partenkirchen’s actors were also part of the performances that took
place within the framework of the Kultursommer in Garmisch-
Partenkirchen, both with the entire ensemble or as single actors.
In order to celebrate this year’s anniversary, theatre lovers can look
forward to open-air performances in July and August. The play
will be “Die Trutzige” (= “The stubborn one”) by Ludwig Anzengruber
and it will take place above the pilgrimage church of St. Anton in
every weather.
engl. / More than a hundred years ago people
in Parten kirchen would meet up after work to
“hoagartn” (social gathering in a garden), for
woodcarving … or f or acting – a tradition that is
still very popular today. So popular that Partenkirchen’s
Bauerntheater (= farmers’ theatre) celebrates
its 125 th anniversary this year. A good reason
to take a peek behind the scenes of the ensemble.
Written records of theatre performances in Partenkirchen date
back to the year 1836, according to oral tradition its origins even
go back as much as another century. It was the theatre company
Klamm that was founded in 1869 which became Partenkirchen’s
Bauerntheater in 1892 when it was founded by Franz Hellweger.
No matter if its 1892 or 2017: Partenkirchen’s Bauerntheater has
managed to preserve its down-to-earth character and passion
for tradition for the past 125 years and it is still deeply rooted in
amateur dramatics. So, there is only one thing left to do: draw
the curtain!
