Telenor Connexion announced their
collaboration on a tracking and tracing
platform for Hitachi Construction
Machinery Co. Ltd. The project has
seen Cinterion’s HC25 modules combined
with Telenor SIM Cards to be
deployed on over 20,000 construction
and mining machines in over 50
countries to date, including Korea and
Japan, with complete service coverage.
X A Canadian provider of two-way satellite
communications technology, Sky-
Wave Mobile Communications, chose
the M2M Zone at CeBIT to announce
the availability of GLONASS navigation
in its DMR-800L satellite terminal.
The upgraded terminal can compute
its exact location using either or both
GLONASS and GPS systems – the dual
navigation capability will be of benefit
to fleet owners who would like to use
GLONASS but do not want the costs
and reliability issues associated with
the use of an external module.
X Orange Business Services announced
the formation of its International M2M
Center (IMC), to provide global M2M
connectivity for the France Telecom
Group. The ICM will be hosted by the
Orange affiliate Mobistar in Belgium to
provide expertise on M2M consulting,
integration, SIM card developments,
and project management. Orange
also unveiled a dedicated M2M web
portal to allow users to order, activate
and track M2M SIM cards online. The
tool can be integrated into IT systems
through APIs, enabling what is said to
be seamless management.

The M2M Summit is an annual congress
hosted by the M2M-Alliance e.V. which provides
information on the latest trends and
developments in the M2M industry.
Renowned experts from industry and research
will find a forum for the presentation
of outstanding scientific developments
and practical applications of M2M
technology. In addition, field reports will
be exchanged in plenary sessions and will
inspire new projects.
A compact overview of developments, applications
and solutions offered for machineto-machine
communication (M2M) will be
given in four parallel workshops. The focus
topics are: mobility, renewable energies,
POS/POI and smart home/consumer goods.
In a vendor session a specialized exchange
of ideas and platform for connecting with
new contacts within the M2M industry will
be offered.
A highlight of the day will be the presentation
of the M2M Best Practice Awards. With
the award the M2M Alliance recognizes for
the fourth time trend-setting achievements
in two categories in the research and application
of M2M technologies.
