Continual Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development<br />
<strong>German</strong> teachers involved in the MLPSI are invited to attend two CPD (Incareer) days a year. This<br />
Autumn’s CPD day will focus on Language Awareness and the Integration <strong>of</strong> the modern language and<br />
literacy & numeracy. This will take place in Education Centres in Dublin, Sligo, Cork and Limerick in<br />
November. All materials used on the day can be downloaded from the CPD section <strong>of</strong> the <strong>German</strong> page on<br />
www.mlpsi.ie . Many <strong>of</strong> the activities used are suitable for use in <strong>German</strong> Junior Cycle classes or can be<br />
adapted to suit Senior Cycle classes.<br />
MLPSI website<br />
The MLPSI website contains a wealth <strong>of</strong> information<br />
suitable for all language teachers. Of special interest to<br />
<strong>German</strong> teachers is a dedicated <strong>German</strong> page which is<br />
regularly updated with new resources, excellent weblinks<br />
and cultural items. On the ‘Primary/secondary page’,<br />
many ideas are highlighted as to how to set up language<br />
links between primary and post primary schools. Existing<br />
school projects are also described. The ICT & the ML<br />
page <strong>of</strong>fers user friendly video tutorials on how to use<br />
free s<strong>of</strong>tware packages for use in your modern<br />
languages classroom. Please take the time to browse the<br />

‘Language Links’ – MLPSI online magazine<br />
Our magazine Language Links is published online twice a year and provides an<br />
opportunity for all involved in the Initiative to share their classroom practice and also<br />
gather new ideas to enhance their language teaching and learning. The magazine can<br />
also be used as an actual teaching resource. Suggestions for this are available on the<br />
relevant section <strong>of</strong> our website www.mlpsi.ie. Copies <strong>of</strong> previous issues are available<br />
to download.<br />
GDI Conference<br />
We are delighted to continue our fruitful collaboration with the GDI again this year by facilitating<br />
workshops at the GDI Conference <strong>of</strong> November 14 th , 2009. We also value our link with Dr. Josef Ruetzel,<br />
<strong>German</strong> Language Advisor to the Department <strong>of</strong> Education and Science and look forward to working with<br />
him in the future<br />
