Abstract
The present work is a theoretical discussion about different facets of occupational
social work (OSW). Concrete aim is to get an overview of the market of the OSW and
of career opportunities in this field. It discusses the basics and developments from
BSA, the nature of the market as well as the specific features of the exercise of BSA.
The analysis shows, among other things, that the external organization seems suita-
ble for the exercise of BSA in Austria. The access of social workers to the external
BSA is possible via different forms of self-employment. The necessary knowledge for
this can be acquired through education and training, as well as by working in multi
professional teams.
