‘Semi-plena’- Semi-double form with light cream colored flowers.<br />

Camassia quamash- Flower from light blue to dark purple. White forms do occur. Very<br />

impressive when planted in masses. Meadows can look like a sea of blue when it flowers in its<br />

native habitat. Grows in moist meadows to dry prairies. All cultivars <strong>and</strong> species can be used in<br />

the “Alpine Zone” or open sunny spots in the “Valley Bottom”. Ethnobotany: Bulbs were eaten.<br />

‘Blue Melody’- Variegated foliage with typical blue flower.<br />

‘Orion’- Nice dark violet blue flower (Thimblefarms,2003).<br />

‘San Juan’- Darker blue than species (Thimblefarms,2003).<br />

Dodeecatheon jeffreyi- Shooting Star grows in wet meadows in higher elevations. Interesting<br />

group of flowers that have petals that bend backward exposing the centers. Flowers are usually<br />

reddish-purple with lighter colored centers (Lyons, 1997).<br />

Goodyera oblongfolia- Rattlesnake plantain is a wonderful plant in deep coniferous sites. The<br />

white variegated foliage can vary a lot from plant to plant. The leaves are a real eye catcher.<br />

Iris tenax- A good iris for normal soils. Purple <strong>and</strong> white flowers are produced from April to<br />

June. Ethnobotany: Leaves braided to make traps.<br />

Iris tenax var. gormanii- A pale yellow flowered form of the species.
