Anemone occidentalis- Commonly called Old Man of the Mountain. Large fuzzy seed head<br />

produced after large white flowers. Almost all parts of this plant are hairy. Nice looking plant in<br />

the morning dew or rain.<br />

Antennaria media- Very compact grower with white blooms. Makes a nice wooly mat (Dusek,<br />

2004)<br />

Arenaria sp.<br />

‘Blue Cascade’- Mat forming. Blue foliage that is needled shaped. Flowers white (Mt.<br />

Tahoma Nursery, 2004).<br />

Arenaria obtusiloba- Nice tight mat grower. Flowers white with a violet blush (Lupp, 2004).<br />

Arenaria rubella<br />

‘Popcorn’- A double white flowering plant. Forms a mat of needle like foliage (Mt.<br />

Tahoma Nursery, 2004).<br />

Cassiope mertensiana- Makes large spreading mats of evergreen thread growth. White bellshaped<br />

flowers (Nicholls, 2002).<br />
