E.1 Mathematica Terminology
In the following, the Mathematica terminology used in this work, is briefly described.
Further informations are given in the Mathematica Documentation Center [22].
Notebook
A Mathematica notebook is a file format used by the graphical front-end. It contains
input cells, which are evaluated by the Mathematica kernel. The result is displayed
in corresponding output cells.
Package
A Mathematica package is a text file, written in Mathematica language. It can be
sourced from Mathematica notebooks and other Mathematica packages and provides
the included definitions like a library file.
List
Lists are general objects that represent collections of expressions. Each type of expression
can be a list element, e. g. a list of strings or a list of lists, which represents
vectors, matrices or higher tensors.
Example: list = { 1 , ”string” , { 3+x , 3 , y } }
Rule
Evaluating a rule replaces an expression by another one.
Example: x → 5
