Nature has endowed the area around the Krušné hory mountains with a high concentration of resources in the form of a coal bed. It has influenced the lives and fates of the many people who have been, are, and will be involved in mining. Their relationship to mining, the shaft, and their fellow workers is evidenced by numerous historical documents, photographs, songs, and the jargon that has been passed down the generations. As a result, professional slang, which is full of words, meanings, and terms used by those in the mining industry, has been preserved. It brings people together and forms a bond of common interests among those who have devoted their lives to the mines.
Severočeské doly a.s. is the largest brown coal mining company in the Czech Republic. The company was established on 1 January 1994 by the merger of Doly Bílina and Doly Nástup Tušimice. The company operates in the North Bohemian brown coal basin. Its core businesses are the extraction, preparation, and sale of brown coal and related materials.
