Ahmet Yorulmaz was born in 1932, in Ayvalık, where he grew up. He started his<br />
literary life by translating Modern Greek literature. First, he translated short stories<br />
and poems, then children’s books and later on, novels. His translations have been<br />
published in Varlık. His, Savaşın Çocukları - Girit’ten Sonra Ayvalık (Children <strong>of</strong> War<br />
- After Crete, Ayvalık), which is about the compulsory population exchange between<br />
Greece and Turkey and more precisely, about the tragedy <strong>of</strong> the Turkish people<br />
on Crete, was recognized as the first and only novel written by a Turk about the<br />
“Exchange”, at a conference held at Oxford University, in the United Kingdom.<br />
