New Features for PIP Awards 2012<br />
The Pride in Performance (PIP) Awards<br />
Programme 2012 will incorporate<br />
several new features.<br />
The first is a shift in focus from<br />
the longstanding PIP values of<br />
Performance, Enterprise, Energy<br />
and The Right People to a greater<br />
concentration on the five key elements<br />
distilled from the past decade of<br />
entries. These are:<br />
1. Reaching new performance heights<br />
to achieve business growth<br />
2. Delivering world-class customer<br />
service<br />
3. Innovating and creating new ideas<br />
to approach your business<br />
Senior Management Changes<br />
Anthony Nightingale is to retire as<br />
Jardine Matheson <strong>Group</strong> Managing<br />
Director at the end of March 2012<br />
after six years in the position. He<br />
will be succeeded by Ben Keswick.<br />
In addition, Adam Keswick will<br />
take up the new role of Deputy<br />
Managing Director.<br />

Mr Nightingale as Managing<br />
Director of listed <strong>Group</strong> companies<br />
Jardine Strategic, Hongkong Land,<br />
Dairy Farm and <strong>Mandarin</strong> <strong>Oriental</strong>.<br />
Adam Keswick will join their boards.<br />
Mr Nightingale will remain a nonexecutive<br />
director of the <strong>Group</strong>’s<br />

Another new feature is a<br />
repositioning of the ‘Successful<br />
New Venture’ category to ‘Successful<br />
New Initiative’.<br />
“We feel this broadens and better<br />
reflects the overall aim of this<br />
particular category,” said Jardine<br />
Matheson <strong>Group</strong> Managing Director<br />
Anthony Nightingale. “It can be a<br />
small, new project, a new strategy,<br />
a new venture or any initiative that<br />
main listed companies as well as a<br />
commissioner of Astra.<br />
Ben Keswick<br />
Ben Keswick, who first joined the<br />
<strong>Group</strong> in 1998, has served as <strong>Group</strong><br />
Managing Director of Jardine Cycle<br />
& Carriage for the last four years. In<br />
this position, he has played an active<br />
role in the expansion of the <strong>Group</strong>’s<br />
Southeast Asian interests, which now<br />
account for over 50% of its profits.<br />
For the past four years, Adam Keswick,<br />
who joined the <strong>Group</strong> in 2001, has<br />
served as Chief Executive of Jardine<br />
Pacific and Jardine Motors based<br />
in Hong Kong. During this time, he<br />
you and your team feel proud<br />
of and which has achieved<br />
business success.”<br />
The other four categories of Customer<br />
Focus, Marketing Excellence,<br />
Innovation and Creativity, and<br />
Business Outperformance remain<br />
unchanged, but in recognition of<br />
the increasingly important role of<br />
sustainability in enhancing business<br />
performance, this will also now<br />
be taken into consideration in the<br />
judges’ assessment of PIP entries.<br />
The deadline for entries is<br />
10th January 2012.<br />

said <strong>Group</strong> Chairman Sir Henry<br />
Keswick. “He has overseen a strong<br />
period of growth for the <strong>Group</strong> and<br />
will be stepping down as Managing<br />
Director at a time when all our<br />
businesses are performing well.”<br />
