“We were asked to take over the
complete development of the system, but
we had no experience in producing water
heaters,” says Vojin Peshovich, marketing
director and son of the owner. “We
another 90 days was necessary to build
the required molds and stamping tools.”
The result is a mini (500g) injection
molded tankless water heater that is said
to waste no energy.
Unlike insulated heaters
that heat up water and hold
it warm for use, this unit provides
instant warm water on
demand. “Generally a [traditional]
water heater wastes
up to 1000 kWh of energy
just keeping warm water
available. Our unit eliminates
that—as well as the
wait until the warm water
reaches the faucet through
the pipes (an average of
3.5L loss), since this unit is
installed directly above the
faucet for a shower, tub, or
wash basin,” he says.
Development of this injection
molded project, using a blend of engineering
resins to cope with the 70-80°C
water temperatures, started last November,
and delivery of the first 10,000 units
to the South African building and construction
customer took place in April.
“Fast reaction was needed on this project
along with particular attention to endproduct
company is now seeking certification
of this unit so that it can be marketed
throughout the European Union. MPW
