Brother and Sister Elks:
By now the holiday season has passed and a brand
New Year is upon us. Hopefully everyone had a safe
and enjoyable festive season and are looking forward
to a prosperous New Year. This New Year is the first
year of the next 100 years of the Elks of Canada.
So far during my term I have made visits to a number
of Lodges in Ontario. All Lodges have been open and
welcoming. I have met many new people and thoroughly
enjoyed myself along the way.
In October I attended the Presidents meeting in Regina,
as well as a meeting of the forward planning committee.
The Presidents meeting went well and was a very good
opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas. It’s always
nice to get together with other members from across
the country to see how different things work for them
in their area. The meeting of the forward planning
committee was also very productive. It was quite
impressive having that many people in one room with
the common goal of ensuring Elkdom survives another
100 years. There was a vast amount of experiences in
the room and the discussions were very in depth.
SARNIA ELKS LODGE NO. 503
ONTARIO
Sarnia Elks Lodge No. 503 held a 100 th Anniversary
barbeque for the community on September 29 th , 2012.
The Lodge displayed the anniversary banner along with
membership information and Invitation to Join applications
and hung posters all around the patio where several
people attending the event mentioned hearing about the
event on the radio.
They had great participation from the members and
the support from their landlords, the PT. Edward Ex-
Servicemen’s Club was fantastic. This is one of the
positives from this event that Ex-Servicemen’s Executive
supported this event so well. They provided their Patio
free of charge, put notification of the event on their

As mentioned before, my motto this year is “Let’s Make
Time”. Not always an easy thing to do but usually
rewarding. When you actually make time in your day to
complete a task, no matter what it is, you feel a sense
of pride and accomplishment. Now, when you apply this
to your Lodge and the work you do in your community
you can also add a feeling of charity, selflessness and
love. It would be nice if every one of us were to come
up with one thing that we can make time for that will
improve our Lodge. Maybe it would be to make time to
organize a membership night. Maybe you could make
time to put a phone call into those members that you
have not seen out in awhile. Maybe you want to make
time to be part of one of the committees in your Lodge.
These are just a few ideas how we can all improve the
Order if we can find a way to make time.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone
friendship and success within their Lodges throughout
this year.

been tenants for 10 years at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club
and the Lodge believes they have a better understanding
of who the Elks are now!
All left over food and drinks were
turned over to the Inn of the Good
Shepherd food bank and the
donation was greatly appreciated.
