The Walkathon raised a total of $19,160.00, the largest
amount raised to date.
On June 13th, 2012 Jerry Wernicke Grand Exalted
Ruler/National President, accompanied by his wife and
a few members from the Chilliwack Lodge, visited and
toured the Centre. They met with our staff and also
had the opportunity to watch the PALS (the pre-school
group) graduation ceremony, after which they enjoyed
mingling with the families.

I would like to take this opportunity to particularly thank
each and every one of you, who take the time and go
over and above to raise funds for the Society. We receive
donations from individual Elks and Royal Purple
members as well as various lodges across BC. We
have members from many lodges who come and visit
us, participate in groups and mingle with the families.
We also have a few very dedicated members who are
on our Board - Al Edwards is our new Vice President,
Sally Hurst is a past Board President, Eleanor Scott,
and Barbara Gee, all who continue to make a difference
to the children and the families we serve.
We encountered a particularly sad time when Gary
Gee, a Board member lost his battle earlier this year to
cancer. Gary’s contribution to the Society was immeasurable.
He was the first Board President, dedicated
many hours of his time to the development of our current
facility and went out of his way to ensure we work
towards a centre that delivered the highest quality of
service. Gary’s spirit and enthusiasm will live on as we
now have his wife, Barbara Gee who joined the Board
this year.
BCFHRS endeavors to be a Centre of Excellence – we
look forward to a future that encourages growth and
continues to build on a solid foundation. My staff and I
take pride in our Society and I hope you share the same
excitement in the accomplishments of the children you
so generously support.

and boundless generosity that made ISTAR what it is today. In 25 years you helped grow ISTAR from a fledgling
experimental treatment program into an institute renowned the world over for its dedicated and compassionate clinicians,
