Where the Wild Films Are
The European Outdoor Film Tour (E.O.F.T.) screens the most exciting sports- and adventure-films of the year.
200 shows in 9 countries and 132 cities, starting this autumn.
Chris Bray looks tired and exhausted when
he turns towards the camera. »Right now
what I’d like to do is throw up in a little
bowl and go to sleep.« It is not the morning
after a night-out, it is only the first
evening of their Victoria Island Expedition.
»We are slowly starting to realise what
we got ourselves into«, his expedition
partner Clark Carter groans and moves
slowly towards the tent. But wait, is it a
tent on wheels?
On Kevlar wheels over rough and smooth
The PAC (=Paddleable Amphibious Cart)
rolls forward on four oversized truck wheels
covered in gold. »It’s Kevlar«, explains Chris,
»the sort of stuff you make bullet-proof vests
out of.« It helps them to get over rocks,
through ice and deep mud. It is no surprise it
can swim too. A brilliant construction, especially
made for crossing an island north of
the Arctic Circle. Apart from a handful of
people, there are only ice bears, musk oxen
and arctic wolves up there. 1,000 kilome-
tres over rough and smooth lay ahead of
them. Who might give up first? The sun
drenched Australians or the PAC…
Approaching a slackline world champion
The Australian tinkerers are not the only
ones in the film program realising wild
ideas. Slackliner Andy Lewis offers similar
twists and tricks. He turned down an offer
by Madonna (!) to accompany her as a
show act on her world tour: »That’s not my
thing.« He does not need the big stage for
his tricks. The current world champion preferably
backflips along the slackline and
sometimes does not even bother to use the
safety leash or wear any clothes whatever
when on the highline. The E.O.F.T. will
screen his portrait »Sketchy Andy«.
Another crazy thing in the program: »The
Shapeshifter«. Kayaker Ben Marr paddles
with fire, putting the game with the elements
into a new light. Mystical whitewater
action, gripping sound: it is definitely the
visual highlight of the E.O.F.T. 12/13. <
Starting on
October 11th.
The E.O.F.T. will travel around
Europe from 11 October
carrying a two hour film
program in their backpacks.
