»We don’t deliver to your tent (yet)«
Globetrotter Ausrüstung on all channels: The new iPhone App offers an integrated online
shop, a product scanner, geographic information and much more. 4-Seasons talked with
Martin Haag, head of the in-house editorial office, who has drafted the App.
Martin, the App looks very neat – but why do you
need a product scanner that only works in the shop?
If there is no sales person nearby you can get all the
information on the product in the shop, including
cus tomers’ feedback. Definitely additional value.
You can also use the App as a delivery service for
bulky goods – instead of buying a paddle and carrying
it through the city you can simply order it online
and get it delivered, all while you’re still in the shop.
What else can the App do?
The main feature is the smart-phone optimised online
shop. Furthermore, there are brilliant photos,
news, event dates and 4-Seasons to download.
What is your favourite feature?
It is called »Orte« which shows events, 4-Seasons
articles and videos close to my location or my next
holiday spot. Start travelling with your fingertips to
get inspiration. We also present our stores, including
a virtual visit and route planer. You can switch
off the function if you don‘t want to be located.
What is customers’ initial feedback like?
Pretty good, many have waited long for the App. Of
course there are critics who don’t tolerate little
bugs. We offered a test version via facebook before
publication which was used intensively. Thanks to
those test customers we are already at the second
update. We survived the childhood ailments. We are
happy if you use the feature »Lob & Tadel« and we
reply to every feedback, I promise!
Outdoor is an escape from everyday life. Do I really
need a shopping App in my tent?
The trend is towards mobile internet and online orders,
many customers expect an excellent App. It
also comes in handy for the occasional visitor on our
website: imagine a tent pole breaks somewhere – you
can order a replacement straight away and get it delivered
to the next post office or the youth hostel.
So, Globetrotter doesn’t deliver straight to your tent?
Not yet. We have to keep something for the App’s
next update ;-)
