Diabetes planogram review
The diabetes planograms have been updated to help
support the consumer with diabetes. Both the eight-foot
and four-foot sections have been refreshed to add new
items and allow for better “at shelf decision making.”
With over 24 million Americans (8% of the population)
having to deal with diabetes on a daily basis, this is one
of the most important sections of the pharmacy. The
growth of the category continues to increase due to
the fact that one million new patients are diagnosed
each year. This will lead to more than 48 million
Americans having diabetes by 2050. This disease
touches everyone in some way every day.

A consumer with diabetes

in a pharmacy than a
shopper without diabetes.
One dollar out of every $10
healthcare dollars is attributed
to diabetes. It is extremely
important to attract this
consumer and keep them in
your pharmacy. Your diabetes
section needs to be clearly
defined and fully stocked.
The refreshed diabetes
planogram includes a triangular space saver sign so test
strips can be kept behind the pharmacy counter. The
CINs are included on the sign with color images and
descriptions.
We have added TriDerma items, Bruise Healing, Ulcer
Healing and Foot Healing creams. TriDerma is a medical
strength skin healing moisturizing line of diabetic
products geared to deliver intense moisture while
protecting the skin. Dr. Scholl’s new Intensive Foot
Space saver sign
Moisturizing Cream has also been
added to the four-foot and eight-foot
sections.
Dex4 Glucose items
have a new look,
as well as new
packaging, and
they are included
on this year’s set.

Am, allows the
consumer with
diabetes to correct mild and moderate
glucose lows (hypoglycemia) quickly and
efficiently. The products are specifically
formulated with pure d-glucose over
other carbohydrates to get blood sugar
levels back into a normal range. These products are
preferred by physicians over colas, candies or juice to bring
blood sugar levels back in line. The packaging is portable
and easy to use.
There are two options available
for A1c testing in this set that was
introduced last year. Bayer’s A1c
Now for immediate results, and
Appraise A1c, from Heritage Labs.
Appraise allows the consumer with
diabetes to send the samples in
for lab results. Please ensure your
patients are testing every three
