21st – 23rd June 3 Day Tour<br />

A three day tour to Scotland’s premier agricultural show. This year’s show really has got<br />

something for everyone and includes the best of:-<br />

Food & Drink - This year’s show has almost 100 food & drink exhibitors in the Food<br />

Hall.<br />

Farming - Each year thousands of pounds worth of farming business takes place at the<br />

show in machinery, livestock, and services.<br />

Renewable Energy - Following last year’s success ‘Renewables’ is back at the show.<br />

The show is keen to showcase advances in this technology, and a visit to this area could<br />

be well worth your time.<br />

Shopping & Fashion - From wellies to watches, feather hats to fabulous frocks, designer<br />

knits and country-wear, the show has many independent designers showcasing the<br />

best in contemporary fashion.<br />

Outdoor Living - Lifestyle pursuits, gardening, and handcrafts inspired by nature.<br />

Included in this section is falconry, gun dog, and terrier racing.<br />

Children’s Activities - A playground for little ones, a seat on a gigantic tractor, up close<br />

to cows, sheep, and ponies, and lots of things of little hands to make and do.<br />

The show is held in Ingliston, just outside Edinburgh. We are delighted to be returning<br />

to the ‘Premier Inn George’s Square’ in Glasgow City Centre, approximately a one hour<br />

drive to the show.<br />

Fri 21st: Letterkenny - Belfast - Cairnryan - Glasgow<br />

We travel by fast ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan, before continuing to our hotel by<br />

George’s Square, right in the centre of Glasgow. While here why not make the most of<br />

this bustling city or meet up with friends or relatives?<br />

Sat 22nd: Full Day at Royal Highland Show<br />

After breakfast we will make our way to Ingliston where you will have a full day to enjoy<br />

the many attractions at the show.<br />

Sun 23rd: Half Day at Show or Edinburgh - Cairnryan - Belfast - Letterkenny<br />

Today you can spend another half day at the show or take in the sites of Edinburgh<br />

before leaving at 3.00pm to make our return journey home.<br />

With it’s wonderful location right in the centre<br />

of Glasgow, just off George’s Square, this<br />

Premier Inn is a great hotel for our weekend<br />

trip. It is a high quality modern hotel with<br />

239 comfortable bedrooms with satellite TV,<br />

hairdryer and ironing facilities. The hotel has<br />

a bar, lift to all floors, and a restaurant with a<br />

wide and varied menu.<br />

National Ploughing Championships<br />

This year the National Ploughing Championships return to Stradbally, Co. Laois. The<br />

show is one of Europe’s largest outdoor exhibitions and agricultural trade shows and<br />

attracts on average 1,100 exhibitors, and almost 190,000 visitors. The event showcases<br />

Irish Food, Farming, and Culture, and incorporates all sectors including agri-machinery,<br />

livestock breeds, animal husbandry and management, motors, forestry, bio-energy,<br />

business management, and regulatory bodies.<br />

At the core of the event is the National Ploughing Championships where 330 ploughing<br />

competitors, both national and international, will compete to win All Ireland Titles.<br />

And if that’s not enough, there’s also a packed programme of special events and live<br />

entertainment including fashion shows, sheep dog trials, loy digging, sheep sheering,<br />

cookery demonstrations, celebrity appearances, and much more.<br />

Tues 24th: Letterkenny – Half Day at Championships – Tullow<br />

We depart Letterkenny early morning and arrive at the Ploughing Championships<br />

around lunchtime, to spend the afternoon at the show. This evening we travel to our<br />

hotel in Carlow, where we check-in and have dinner.<br />

Wed 25th: Full Day at National Ploughing Championships<br />

We will have the full day to wander through the many stalls, exhibitions,<br />

and competitions, before we return to the hotel for our second night.<br />

Thurs 26th: Tullow - Letterkenny<br />

Today we return home to Letterkenny stopping en-route.<br />
