End Delivery Shuttles, Bobbins & Pirns
bluster bay end delivery shuttles
Simple but ingenious tension
system is versatile enough to
accommodate all yarns. Six
small brass hooks tension
the yarn as it slides off the tip
of the bobbin. Finely crafted from
native and exotic hardwoods with a satiny,
smooth finish. Choose from open or closedbottom
styles in two lengths. Uses pirns, not included.
*These double-bobbin shuttles take 4” bobbins instead of pirns.
End-delivery shuttles will improve your selvedges and make
weaving more fun by eliminating the need to hand manipulate
each weft shot for an even selvedge. A throw back to the
industrial revolution, the end-delivery tensioning system was
used on fly shuttles in textile mills. Yarn feeds smoothly and
evenly off the end of a stationary bobbin, or pirn, as the shuttle
scoots across the warp. Tension is controlled in the shuttle.
Leclerc Plastic Bobbins
Leclerc’s plastic bobbins have flat
ended flanges designed to work
well in the square-shaped interior
of Leclerc’s boat shuttles (and many other manufacturers’).
6" bobbin # 61460000 • $1.70 ea or $18.00/12
Schacht Plastic Bobbins
Schacht plastic bobbins have
winder or a special quill winder. Available in 3.5”, 4”, 5” and 6”
lengths. Sold in packages of 10.
3.5” Cardboard Quills # 65030000 • $5
Leclerc Hand
End-Feed Shuttle
the tension for each type of yarn giving a perfect selvage while
increasing weaving speed. Shuttles are 13” long x 1 3/4” deep
x 1 3/8” high. Weight is 6.8 oz including the pirn.
single or double ended bobbin winders. The 6.25” pirns fit all but the
9 in Schacht End Delivery shuttles. The 8” fit Schacht and Bluster Bay
