Grins mirrored, but a malady scarred, Peace sunk for now yet the end undying, And trapped, soullessly perusing me, In a twisted interminable roll of time. One Self Analysis Too Many Blank paper stares back, So I rack my brains, But it seems all I can find is what I lack. Gaps fill me, Substance illusive, in an ambiguous recluse, Full of intrusive whispers. I want to disown my own heart, Part from the spark that smouldered Into this regurgitating mess. Instead of alternating between Twisted highs and lows, I want to try and dispose- The stagnating hatred, That continues to flow. Slow me down as I notice the room Filling with a stench of the same doom. The realisation takes place, I’ve graced another creation with the past. Deterred and unable to find the words To describe this absurd cosmic dread 79
That I can’t shake from my hexagonal head. I borrow lost lines of fake sorrow From false poets, riding the burden of tomorrow. I just wallow here, fear scarred In the depths of my eyes, Accompanied with a cackle, A last laugh of demise. I’ll just canter on with horse and knives, Blunt and dull from the years of lies. And one day when I accept this stained bliss, I’ll finally take it to my wrist. But not today, Something insists a delay A blink in the blurry distance, Carves out an unfounded resistance, An unattainable hope, of a fire burning, unexplainable. In the turning of the world on its side, And the tide falls down and collides with the sky, And I need to know I’ve tried to widen, My misguided perception, instead of snidely lying with pity and scorn. So I pause. And go back to my first line, And blank paper still stares back. So I rack my brains, I find a door and have a look in, But all I can see is another self-indulgent poem. 80
