The lineage of British wind band composers makes fascinating reading: Ralph<br />

Vaughan Williams taught Gordon Jacob, who taught Joseph Horovitz, who taught<br />

Martin Ellerby. For over eighty years the skills and experience of the finest composers<br />

of the land have been passed through each generation to the present day. Jacob played<br />

a significant role in the development and heritage of British wind band music; his<br />

music is as fresh today as it was when it was first premiered. Without his music we, as<br />

musicians, would be the poorer.<br />
