The Committee’s Short-term goals include:
• Resolving any technical issues that arise;
• Promoting CHAB-ER Members as the
‘experts’ of the industry;
• Improving the public perception of the
housing industry; and
• Promoting CHBA-ER Members as
professional, ethical, and trustworthy.
Over the past year, the committee
addressed a host of issues, including:
• TELUS entrance requirements;
• Fire Code requirements;
• Four Party Trenching; and
• Side-Wall Venting Appliances

1.1.1.0.3 Environmental Committee
The CHBA-ER Environmental Committee
was new in 2010-2011. The first few meetings
were spent forging a direction for the
committee and establishing a Terms of
Reference. The group aims to, “increase the
adoption of green building practices in the
Edmonton Region”.
As the committee year progressed, the
group brought in a number of guest
speakers, including environmental expert,
Gordon Howell, and Jim Andreas from the
City of Edmonton.
The Committee also commissioned a
short survey to better understand where
the public stands on the issue of ‘green’
building. This survey will help to set the
platform of the committee over the next
few months.
