5.1.2 Website
Providing members and the public with a
current, interactive and user-friendly website
is one of the CHBA-ERs top priorities.
Enhancing the new CHBA-ER website
remains a work in progress. Improvements
have been made, including an improved
economic updates section, a monthly survey
component on the homepage, and revisions
to the automated online registration and
payment system.
Although a lot of work has been done, the
new website is far from complete. Work
continues on the members’ side of the
website. Individual committee pages will be
up and running in the New Year.
5.1 Edmonton Region Home Builders
Charity Funds (ERHC)
The Edmonton Region Homebuilders
Charity Funds
Committee,
ERHC, did
not bring
forward any major projects in 2011. That
notwithstanding, $10,000 was donated to
the ERHC from proceeds of the CHBA-ER
Annual Golf Tournament and the Association
once more donated six Trade Scholarships
to the NAIT Student Awards Program at the
September 2010 Dinner Meeting.
The ERHC was established in 2008 as a
visible means for the industry to establish
a philanthropic presence in the Capital
Region. The original goal was to fund two
initiatives: a community capital project
in support of non-market housing and an
endowment project to fund bursaries for
student pursuing careers in the trades.
Driven by the efforts of Larry Anderson
of Lincolnberg Homes and Burke Perry of
Perrybuilt Homes Inc., ERHC was able to
contribute significantly to the construction
of Homebase, a 26-unit apartment
building for special needs residents, which
opened in January of 2010, and raise over
$300,000 for an endowment managed by
the Edmonton Community Foundation to
fund six NAIT Trade Scholarships annually
for students entering their final year of
apprenticeship training.
The Board of Directors has approved the
revitalization of the ERHC Committee for
2012 and volunteers with a philanthropic
interest are encouraged to participate.
