Intumescent Paint How to vertify the thickness of intumescent paint? <strong>Sustainable</strong> <strong>Construction</strong> - The thickness of the intumescent paint can be checked by using a Dry Film Thickness (DFT) gauge. Dry film thickness readings should be taken when the intumescent coat is suffi ciently hard to prevent the probe indenting the surface, and prior to the application of the fi nishing coat. The application of intumescent paint on each member has to be recorded by the applicator in detail. An example of such records submitted to PSB for the purpose of DOC is illustrated below.
