EXT. 1736 NOTTINGHAM (LYNN BRACKEN'S) - DAY<br />

Blue, Lynn sits on her porch watching the rain <strong>com</strong>e down.<br />

A SCREECHING on the wet street as Bud's PACKARD pulls up.<br />

She watches as he gets out and starts for the house.<br />

Lynn stands, holds her arms out. Bud stops short on the<br />

steps, out of reach, the rain soaking him.<br />

BUD<br />

Did you talk to Exley?<br />

LYNN<br />

Come in out of the rain. In the<br />

morning we'll have both our<br />

stories for breakfast.<br />

Lightning flashes. Bud shakes hs head.<br />

BUD<br />

I want to know about Exley.<br />

LYNN<br />

He's the opposite of you. He's<br />

more like me. Cold, calculating.<br />

BUD<br />

How'd you get to know so much<br />

about him?<br />

More lightning. Lynn looks God-awful sad.<br />

LYNN<br />

Come in out of the rain, Bud.<br />

BUD<br />

You gonna tell me what happened<br />

with you and Exley?<br />

We talked.<br />

LYNN<br />

BUD<br />

So tell me about it.<br />

LYNN<br />

(looking away)<br />

In the morning.<br />

BUD<br />

(a beat)<br />

Too tired to lie anymore, Lynn finally just nods.<br />
