BUD<br />
One in six. Where's the girl?<br />
EXLEY<br />
Officer White, put down that<br />
weapon and --<br />
Bud shoves the barrel into Jones' mouth, pulls the<br />
trigger twice. CLICK, CLICK. Jones starts to slide<br />
down the wall. Bud jerks him back up, roars.<br />
WHERE?!<br />
BUD<br />
Two more clicks. Jones spills.<br />
JONES<br />
S-sylvester F-fitch one-o-nine<br />
and Avalon gray corner house...<br />
EXT. AVALON BOULEVARD - EVENING<br />
A four cordon. They coast up to a GRAY CORNER HOUSE.<br />
Dudley Smith behind the wheel of the lead cruiser. Bud<br />
White rides shotgun, reloading his revolver.<br />
STREET<br />
BUD<br />
Give me one minute.<br />
DUDLEY<br />
You've got it, Wendell.<br />
Bud is out the door and scooting down an alley. Exley<br />
moves to follow, but Dudley cuts him off.<br />
ALLEY<br />
DUDLEY<br />
We're going through the front.<br />
Bud vaults a fence, pads up the back porch. A screen<br />
door. Bud slips the catch with a penknife and walks<br />
inside.<br />
SCREEN PORCH<br />
Bud heads for a blind-covered door. Unlocked, he<br />
enters...
