more lawyers to take your place<br />
tomorrow. They just won't <strong>com</strong>e on<br />
the bus, that's all.<br />
We hear Loew's PANT LEG TEARING loose.<br />
LOEW<br />
Okay! You're right! Dudley's got<br />
photos of me and Reynolds.<br />
EXLEY<br />
What's Dudley's scheme?<br />
More TEARING. Loew's life may depend on the answer.<br />
INNER OFFICE<br />
LOEW<br />
Dudley's rotten to the core. He's<br />
taking over Mickey Cohen's<br />
rackets, his own hand-picked<br />
cops'll be the new franchise<br />
holders. Because of those<br />
pictures I won't be able to<br />
prosecute. Oh Jesus pull me up!<br />
Exley helps pull Loew back inside. Bud dumps him on the<br />
floor. Bruised and bloodied, Loew looks up at Exley.<br />
LOEW<br />
Dudley's got everyone under his<br />
thumb. Not just me, but the Chief<br />
of Police, the lieutenant<br />
governor, everybody!<br />
Exley pulls his .38, shoves it into the side of Loew's<br />
neck.<br />
EXLEY<br />
NOT EVERYBODY. You tip-off Dudley<br />
and Officer White visits you alone<br />
next time.<br />
Loew looks at Bud, nods, his face a bloody mess.<br />
EXT. CITY OFFICE BUILDING - DAY<br />
Exley and Bud exit. Bud's wheels are turning.
