The first record <strong>of</strong> this species <strong>for</strong> Britain was made from Woodwalton Fen in 1907. It is a<br />
diminutive, short-lived species that requires regular disturbance. It <strong>for</strong>ms a persistent seed<br />
bank and can appear in great quantity when <strong>the</strong> fen peat is disturbed, <strong>for</strong> example when carr<br />
is cleared (Wells, 2003).
