Formerly widespread in ancient woodlands it is now, mirroring national trends, scarcely seen<br />

and <strong>the</strong>n usually in very low numbers. A population comprised <strong>of</strong> 15 to 20 flowering spikes<br />

occurred in Waresley Wood in 2010, in contrast after coppicing in 1985 <strong>the</strong> count was over<br />

250 flowering spikes.<br />
