This is a species <strong>of</strong> shallow calcareous water, usually less than 1m deep. In Britain, it is<br />

predominantly a species <strong>of</strong> eastern England and has a broadly similar distribution to that <strong>of</strong><br />

some o<strong>the</strong>r species <strong>of</strong> calcareous wetlands, including species covered by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Register</strong> e.g.<br />

Stellaria palustris and Lathyrus palustris (Preston, 1995).<br />

There have been no records <strong>for</strong> this species since 1974 when it was reported from Borough<br />

Fen. However, a strong population (last reported 2007) is known from <strong>the</strong> VC29 side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

River Nene at The Embankments, Peterborough (CP). It is conceivable that it might also
