o Space Function: All subadults are recovered from domestic contexts.<br />

o Artifact Function: Subadults are equally likely to be buried with<br />

practical and prestige goods.<br />

o Head Cover/No Head Cover: During the Terminal Preclassic, there<br />

are seven instances <strong>of</strong> head covers within interments, all occurring at<br />

K’axob.<br />

Males (n=0)<br />

o Cranial Orientation: No definitively sexed males or females are<br />

found in the Terminal Preclassic population <strong>of</strong> Colha. Only three<br />

indeterminately sexed individuals were recovered from the site<br />

during this time period. All had indeterminate cranial orientations.<br />

o Burial Position: Two <strong>of</strong> the three indeterminately sexed individuals<br />

were found in indeterminate burial postures while the third was in a<br />

flexed position.<br />

o Burned/Unburned: All instances <strong>of</strong> burning activities within<br />

interments are seen at K’axob during this time.<br />

o Pigmented/Unpigmented: All instance <strong>of</strong> red pigment within<br />

interments are seen at K’axob during this time.<br />

o Cross Motif/No Cross Motif: Three cross motif vessels from two<br />

interments are seen during this period. All occur at K’axob.<br />

o Material: <strong>The</strong> indeterminately sexed individuals interred at the site<br />

during this time period are overwhelmingly accompanied <strong>by</strong> shell<br />

goods with small numbers <strong>of</strong> greenstone and ceramic objects.<br />

o Form: Shell beads comprise the overwhelming majority <strong>of</strong> all<br />

recovered artifacts from interments <strong>of</strong> these individuals. Greenstone<br />

beads and earflares, ceramic vessels and ceramic musical instruments<br />

comprise much smaller quantities <strong>of</strong> goods interred with these<br />

decedents.<br />
