houses on it, to Ambrose Boden of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, fisherman.‡ Mr. Boden died June 1, 1728; <strong>and</strong> the<br />

southeastern half of the house; <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong>, the house be<strong>in</strong>g divided through the "stack of; : chimneys,"<br />

the front door be<strong>in</strong>g opposite the "stack of chimneys," on Mason street, was assigned to the widow; of the<br />

deceased as part of her dower, Feb. 9, 1729. She died March 31, 1746, <strong>and</strong> the entire estate then came<br />

<strong>in</strong>to the possession of the eldest son, Benjam<strong>in</strong> Boden, who lived there. Benjam<strong>in</strong> Boden, for one<br />

hundred <strong>and</strong> forty pounds, sold the "old house" <strong>and</strong> lot to Ebenezer Stacey of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, merchant,<br />

Oct. 8, 1770.§ Mr. Stacy died late <strong>in</strong> 1771, when the house was occupied by William Qu<strong>in</strong>er. In his<br />

will, Mr. Stacy devised this house <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong> to Ebenezer Stacy, son of his son Ambrose Stacy, who<br />

was then under age. Ebenezer lived <strong>in</strong> Lynn, be<strong>in</strong>g a cordwa<strong>in</strong>er, <strong>and</strong> conveyed to Nicholas Tucker of<br />

<strong>Marblehead</strong>, mar<strong>in</strong>er, this small old house '' <strong>and</strong> lot Jan. 22, 1779. || Mr. Tucker died Dec. 19, 1801; <strong>and</strong><br />

the house was gone before 1822, while the premises belonged to Mr. Tucker's estate.<br />

Richard Trevett House. Richard Trevett of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, cordwa<strong>in</strong>er, built a house upon this l<strong>and</strong><br />

before April 1, 1695, when the commoners of <strong>Marblehead</strong> granted the lot to him.** He probably removed<br />

the old house before his death, which occurred <strong>in</strong> 1749.<br />

Estate of Samuel Waldron House. <strong>The</strong> northeastern part of this lot, with<strong>in</strong> the dashes, was granted <strong>and</strong><br />

laid out by the selectmen of <strong>Marblehead</strong> to James Stilson of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, cordwa<strong>in</strong>er, Feb. 11, 1682-3 *<br />

<strong>and</strong> on the same day that part ly<strong>in</strong>g south of the dashes was laid out by the selectmen to John Palmer.*<br />

Mr. Stilson built a house <strong>and</strong> shop upon his part of the lot; <strong>and</strong>, for forty pounds, conveyed the estate to<br />

Samuel Waldron of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, anchorsmith, Feb. 26, 1685-6.† Feb. 5, 1689-90, the trustees for the<br />

commoners of <strong>Marblehead</strong> conveyed to Mr., Waldron l<strong>and</strong> on the western side of his lot westerly of the<br />

dashes, one-half of a rod wide <strong>and</strong> two rods <strong>and</strong> six feet <strong>in</strong> length.* Mr. Waldron died possessed of<br />

the lot Dec. 8, 1691, at the age of thirty-four. <strong>The</strong> build<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong> were then appraised at forty-six<br />

pounds. <strong>The</strong> real estate was devised by Mr. Waldron's will to his wife Miriam <strong>and</strong> her child, which she<br />

was then carry<strong>in</strong>g. If she died without children, then it was to go to his brothers <strong>and</strong> sisters, Rebecca<br />

Stevens, John Waldron, Joseph Waldron, Thomas Waldron, Sarah Waldron <strong>and</strong> Joanna Waldron. <strong>The</strong><br />

widow, Miriam Waldron, married, second, Benjam<strong>in</strong> Henley April 12, 1694; <strong>and</strong> he probably died about<br />

1702. She married, third, Abraham. Lashere Sept. 29, 1704. How much longer the house stood is not<br />

known. <strong>The</strong> southern portion of the lot had come <strong>in</strong>to the possession of Samuel Waldron apparently<br />

some time before his death, <strong>and</strong> was afterwards identified with that estate.<br />

Estate of Richard Rowl<strong>and</strong> House. This small house was built on the town's common by Richard<br />

Rowl<strong>and</strong> of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, husb<strong>and</strong>man, just before March 15, 1689, when he mortgaged it, for fifteen<br />

pounds <strong>and</strong> twelve shill<strong>in</strong>gs, to Eramus James of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, merchant.‡ Mr. Rowl<strong>and</strong> then lived <strong>in</strong> the<br />

house. He died 169-, <strong>and</strong> his widow <strong>and</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istratrix, Lucy Rowl<strong>and</strong>, mortgaged it, for eighteen<br />

pounds <strong>and</strong> twelve shill<strong>in</strong>gs, to Capt. John Legg of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, merchant, Nov. 21, 1692.* Mrs.<br />

Rowl<strong>and</strong> married, secondly, Gregory Codner of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, <strong>and</strong>, for twenty-seven pounds, conveyed the<br />

house to Richard Sk<strong>in</strong>ner of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, mar<strong>in</strong>er, Nov. 27, 1702.† <strong>The</strong> trustees of the commoners granted<br />

the l<strong>and</strong> under <strong>and</strong> around the house to Mr. Sk<strong>in</strong>ner March 18,1702-3.‡ Deacon Sk<strong>in</strong>ner died, possessed of<br />

the house <strong>and</strong> lot, March 9, 1726-7. <strong>The</strong> estate was divided Nov. 16, 1734, <strong>and</strong> this house <strong>and</strong> lot were assigned<br />

to the deceased's son James Sk<strong>in</strong>ner, esq., of <strong>Marblehead</strong>,§ who, for two hundred pounds, conveyed the<br />

house <strong>and</strong> lot to William Croft of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, gentleman, April 1, 1745.|| Mr. Croft died before May 6,<br />

1765, when adm<strong>in</strong>istration upon his estate was granted. <strong>The</strong> mansion house, garden, etc., were appraised at<br />

sixty-six pounds, thirteen shill<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>and</strong> four pence. Widow Elizabeth Roads of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, formerly widow of<br />

Mr. Croft, for eighty pounds, conveyed to John Smethurst of <strong>Marblehead</strong>, cordwa<strong>in</strong>er, the "small old
