Phuket King’s Cup Regatta
HOW MANY RACES HAVE YOU
GOT UNDER YOUR BELT?
I haven’t done many yacht races
in my life. I started sailing in Italy
10 years ago with my cousin. We
took part in several winter series
at the local yacht club and a few
national championships. My career
as a professional sailor started in
2006 on a Farr 70’ racer cruiser.
I’ve done the Rolex circuit in the
Mediterranean, the Giraglia, the
Trofeo Zegna and the Maxi World
Series in Sardinia, among others.
After that, I crossed the Atlantic,
Panama and the Pacifi c where
I landed in New Zealand at the
end of 2007. For three and a half
years I raced regularly on a couple
of 50-footers in the fi rst division
doing inshore and off shore races.
WHAT’S YOUR STRATEGY TO WIN
THE RACE?
The fl eet seems competitive. A
good strategy would be to stay
ahead from the start and keep
the lead.
The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta
is on 3-10 Dec at Kata Beach
Resort & Spa, Phuket.
