HOW CAN YOU PREVENT<br />
SUDDEN DEATH?<br />
Sudden death is usually due to an underlying heart condition. High risk<br />
factors include:<br />
• Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Strong Family History or Smokers.<br />
• Those who participate in vigorous physical exercise like marathons are also at<br />
increased risk if there is an underlying heart condition.<br />
In most individuals, sudden death can be prevented if you have your<br />
heart checked!<br />
Heart, Stroke & Cancer Centre is a one-stop specialist medical<br />
centre specializing in the prevention, early detection and management of<br />
heart disease, stroke and cancer.<br />
• Uses the newest generation Heart MRI Scanner, the 1st in Asia, in<br />
partnership with its service provider, which is able to image the heart<br />
without the need of x-rays or contrast injection. In addition to imaging<br />
the heart arteries, it is able to detect abnormalities of the heart muscle<br />
which may predispose to sudden death.<br />
• One of the largest experiences in the region in the use of CT imaging to<br />
detect blockage of the heart arteries and is the first in the Asia Pacific<br />
region with a scientific published paper showing high accuracy of CT<br />
Coronary Angiography.<br />
• Published data showing that new approach of stenting of the heart<br />
arteries even for complex cases was associated with no death, stroke or<br />
emergency bypass surgery.<br />
• Multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced specialists in various fields led by Dr Michael Lim,<br />
Medical Director & Consultant Physician and internationally renowned Cardiologist. He is also the<br />
Editor-in-Chief of Heart Asia, a publication of the prestigious British Medical Journal and is also the<br />
