In Example 5.5, Berio writes in <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance notes that <strong>the</strong> rasgueado should<br />
be achieved by using <strong>the</strong> c, a, m, i fingers of <strong>the</strong> right hand creating a “fast grace note<br />
rasgueado.” 3 Berio notates four stems, each representing a different attack by <strong>the</strong> four<br />
different right hand fingers.<br />

Berio describes Example 5.6 in <strong>the</strong> program notes as a “fast grace note rasgueado<br />
followed by an accented chord.” 4 The grace note rasgueado’s should be per<strong>for</strong>med <strong>the</strong><br />
same as Example 5.5. The additional accented chord should be per<strong>for</strong>med by <strong>the</strong> thumb.<br />
