The signs of this condition are usually those of:<br />

Sudden personality change<br />

Radical alteration of the patient's previous ethical and moral standards<br />

Development of extravagant and grandiose behaviour<br />

The cl<strong>in</strong>ical picture then seems to level out and then is followed by a<br />

progressive dement<strong>in</strong>g illness<br />

There may be an accompany<strong>in</strong>g affective state of flat euphoria<br />

The patient may have argyll-robertson pupils<br />

Csf:<br />

Csf pressure is often slightly raised<br />

Microscopy shows an excess of mononuclear cells and prote<strong>in</strong> with a<br />

marked <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> globul<strong>in</strong> fraction<br />

Serology is always positive<br />

Death usually occurs with<strong>in</strong> three years.<br />

Glanders Glanders is a highly contagious disease of solipeds ca<strong>used</strong> by pseudomonas<br />

and respiratory passages. The disease typically has a progressive course and<br />

poses a significant human health risk.<br />

adjective is globoid or spheroid. Globus sensation may result from abnormal<br />

muscle activity or sensitivity of the esophagus. It sometimes occurs when<br />

stomach acid and enzymes flow backward from the stomach <strong>in</strong>to the esophagus<br />

(gastroesophageal reflux). Globus sensation also may occur with frequent<br />

swallow<strong>in</strong>g and dry<strong>in</strong>g of the throat brought on by anxiety or another strong<br />

emotion or by rapid breath<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The feel<strong>in</strong>g produced by globus sensation is similar to that experienced when<br />

feel<strong>in</strong>g all choked up, such as dur<strong>in</strong>g events that trigger grief, anxiety, anger,<br />

pride, or happ<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />
