bread,green peas,unripe fruit,cabbage and the like.2.by a morbidly changed<br />

condition of the digestive juices,which allow the fermentation of <strong>in</strong>test<strong>in</strong>al<br />

contents.3.by a relaxed state of the muscular coat of the <strong>in</strong>test<strong>in</strong>es,<strong>in</strong><br />

consequence of which the contents of the bowel are not properly moved<br />

forewards,and become decomposed <strong>in</strong>to gaseous substances.meteorirism is<br />

seen <strong>in</strong> severe cases of typhoid pneumonia,acute exanthematic andpuerpural<br />

<strong>in</strong>feriorly <strong>in</strong>to the thoracic and lumbar regions of the cord. The symptom<br />

complex <strong>in</strong>cludes symmetric, peripheral hyperesthesia of the extremities<br />

accompanied by trophic changes <strong>in</strong> the form of slowly heal<strong>in</strong>g ulcers, atrophy of<br />

the bones, and changes <strong>in</strong> the nails. Insidious onset <strong>in</strong> 2nd to 3rd decade.<br />

Frequently associated with other congenital malformations, such as Klippel-Feil<br />

syndrome and sp<strong>in</strong>a bifida. It usually occurs <strong>in</strong> young people of either sex.<br />

Morvan first described this rare cl<strong>in</strong>ical picture <strong>in</strong> 1883.<br />
