Table 10.3 summarises the predicted public health impacts in the various river reaches. As noted in sections
above, the downstream communities were already at some risk from water and sanitation-related diseases before
the development of the LHWP. The two most restrictive scenarios will exacerbate the existing poor situation
through reductions in both river flows and periodic flushing in the reaches situated just below the dams.

Table 10.4 summarises the predicted animal health consequences of the various scenarios in the various river
reaches. Effects on livestock are expected to be moderate at worst, even for the relatively severe Treaty
scenario, but would be reduced to much lower levels if higher river flows were permitted.
